When Franciscan missionaries came to California, they preached Christianity through word, rituals, and especially song – touching the hearts and minds of the indigenous people. This presentation offers a history of mission life and practices, combined with the St. Julie Billiart Parish choir’s renditions of early mission music to show how this music deepened the religious life of the native peoples.
